With trademark dreadlocks and entrancing percussive strings, Newton Faulkner rose to prominence in 2007. The folk acoustic singer-songwriter gained a string of Top 10 albums, including his platinum-selling debut Hand Built by Robots featuring “Teardrop” and “I Need Something”. After 10 years and five incredible albums, 2017 marks a huge anniversary year for Newton with a UK and European tour in support of his new work.
Hailing from Surrey and graduating from Guildford’s Academy of Contemporary Music, Newton spent his late teens playing bass guitar in a Green Day cover band and funk-rock band Half a Guy. Fast forward over a decade and the “Dream Catch Me” singer has performed at the likes of Glastonbury, V Festival and Latitude, as well as international shows across the globe. This passion for live performance, rhythmic guitar play and earnest storytelling has earned him a solid fanbase. Once labelled ‘the British Jack Johnson’, Newton’s melodic sound has embraced more forthright songwriting and colourful beats over the last few years. Following the success of his invigorating yet audacious fifth album Human Love, Newton has two main aims for his new release--pushing his voice to the limit and writing songs designed for performing live.
