Sam Smith has made an incredible name for himself in just a few years. He first made headway when he lent his vocals on Disclosure’s 2012 dance hit “Latch” which reached No. 11 in the UK. Taking influence from Aretha Franklin and Chaka Khan, Smith’s poignant vocals and dizzying falsetto made him a huge hit with his growing audience at just 21. His stripped-back debut single “Lay Me Down” was closely followed by a collaboration with Naughty Boy on “La La La” in 2013, peaking at No. 1 on UK charts.
Smith’s Nirvana EP featured an acoustic recording of "Latch" and by the end of February 2014 he was back at the top of the UK chart with "Money on My Mind” from his debut album In the Lonely Hour released later that year. "Stay with Me", "I'm Not the Only One" and "Lay Me Down" hit the Top Ten in both the UK and US, and the album earned him four Grammy awards. Smith recorded "Writing's on the Wall” for the Bond film Spectre which shot straight to No. 1 and won a Golden Globe and Academy Award in 2016.
