Sir Cliff Richard--born name Harry Rodger Webb--began his road to super-stardom when his father bought him a guitar when he was 16. He formed a vocal group, The Quintones, in 1957, and would later go on to form The Drifters, adopting the stage name Cliff Richard in the process. "Cliff" reinforced the rock music he was playing as part of The Drifters, while "Richard" was adopted in tribute to Little Richard. His first single, 1958's "Move It", entered the charts at No. 2, launching a career that would see him sell over 21 million singles alone. In a five-decade-long career, Cliff has released 42 studio albums and 154 singles, and is the most successful British male solo artist of all time. He is the third top-selling artist in UK singles chart history, with only The Beatles and Elvis ahead of him. Cliff is also the only artist to have had a UK No. 1 single in five consecutive decades, from 1959's "Living Doll", through to 1999's "The Millennium Prayer".
